Where to Find the Cheapest Pint in London (2026)

The average London pint now tops £5.77 — here's where to drink for far less, from Newham to Wetherspoons.

With the average pint in London now around £5.77, finding a cheap drink is more of an art than ever. But bargains are still out there — you just need to head to the right boroughs and the right chains. Here's where your pound stretches furthest across the capital. Prices are indicative and vary by pub, day and season. For more on the city's drinking scene, see our pubs and bars guide.

Newham & the outer east — averages around £4.20–£4.95

The cheapest pints in London are generally found out east. Newham averages around £4.20 a pint, with Barking & Dagenham (about £4.75) and Havering (about £4.94) close behind — comfortably below the citywide average. Explore the area in our Newham borough guide.

Wetherspoons — from as little as £1.49

For rock-bottom prices, the Wetherspoons chain is unbeatable. Some London outlets — such as the Kentish Drovers in Peckham — have run pints as low as around £1.49 to £1.50 on quieter days, and 'Spoons pubs remain the reliable budget choice across the city.

How to drink for less

Beyond location and chains, look out for happy hours, weekday deals and independent micropubs in outer boroughs. Central Zone 1 tourist spots will always cost the most, so heading a few stops out on the Tube can easily halve your round.
